Friends of the Earth Spain has six active local groups around Spain, with a central office in Madrid. It runs an information/education centre for the general public called ‘As Corcerizas’ in Galicia which provides environmental information and educational materials on sustainable construction. The centre also provides voluntary youth programmes.
Friends of the Earth Spain puts pressure on national, regional and local governments and companies to protect the environment and natural resources.
The organisation promotes local awareness of both global and local environmental problems and provides opportunities to take direct action.
Friends of the Earth Spain cooperates with countries in Central America by channelling Spanish and European funding towards sustainable development projects.
Environmental education plays an important role in Friends of the Earth Spain's activities, who also works with the Spanish Youth Council.
Friends of the Earth Spain is one of the 23 member groups that are involved in the School of Sustainability project.
